About Us
NYABON Enterprises Ltd, a Kenyan social enterprise created to deliver appropriate farm Mechanization Solutions to the Smallholder farmers along with affordable financing. The vision of the company is Smart Agriculture for Smallholder farmers in Africa.
How We Help Farmers
Through this model, Nyabon promotes efficient and affordable mechanization for farmers by packaging agricultural machinery and equipment into appropriate solutions for specific crop value chains, and financing the solutions, provision of inputs & services, both directly and through its Aggregator Affiliates, and through secondary providers. The model is designed to be sustainable by aligning the interests of all the stakeholders who benefit from and share in its success
The Nyabon Aggregator Model is an ecosystem of stakeholders working together with the common goal of developing and improving crop value chains. It does this by aligning the interests of five key stakeholders who can all benefit financially from the model’s success.
Agriculture is the backbone of Kenya’s economy and yet smallholder farmers who produce more than 70% of the food consumed in the country still use rudimentary methods to produce crops.

To be close to the farmers and better serve their needs, Nyabon has built a Central Distribution Centre which also serves as the company headquarters. This Centre is being developed at Ayweyo near Kisumu city on a 4-Acre piece of land. It has a showroom for farm machinery and equipment, service and repair facilities, and holds spare parts inventory to provide after sales support to farmers. Plans are also underway to provide drying/ short term storage facilities. Nyabon is also establishing demonstration fields on 3 acres (of the 4) to showcase the full capabilities of its mechanization solutions, share “Best Agronomic Practices” for rice, soya, sorghum, and other crop value chains and provide “hands on” training. The distribution centre will serve as a centre of excellence serving the farmers in all areas of smallholder agriculture in cooperation with government, research institutes, input providers, development organizations and donors.
PLACEHOLDER – TO BE WRITTEN – Crop Rotation Strategies supplied by skilled agronomists will help maintain healthy soil while increasing productivity. Planting soya after a paddy-rice crop is an example. The soya will make use of the inputs (fertilizer, etc.) already used and restore nitrogen to the soil.
Access to finance has historically been one of the biggest challenges to increasing mechanization. Nyabon solve this problem with a unique solution for equipment financing. Nyabon’s “Lease to own” financing as well as other innovative financial tools allow its partners, qualified farmers and farmer organizations to obtain equipment to provide mechanization services and pay for it with increased production.

Impacts
As a social enterprise with the goals of addressing food security, improving incomes for smallholders in East Africa and creating jobs, Nyabon is committed to making a difference.
As the backbone of the Nyabon Aggregator Model is mechanization, the impacts on increased productivity and incomes and reduced manual labour for smallholders are powerful.
In addition to addressing climate change through climate-smart agriculture as previously detailed, women and youth employment is another high priority for Nyabon. Youth organizations and women’s groups are a primary source of talent to build out the aggregator model and working with them includes training which both increases their productivity and employability.

Climate Smart Farming
While Nyabon incorporates a climate-smart approach into all of its practices, there are many specific examples which illustrate how these practices are being put to work. One example is the planting of soya after the paddy-rice crop. The soya benefits from the fertilizer already used to restore nitrogen to the soil.
